About Victor

Victor Santana-Melgoza, M.A., CNP is a professional educator, public speaker, and private consultant based in Phoenix, AZ. He maintains an active speaking schedule as an award-winning diversity trainer and lecturer with his business, Diversity Talks, and has worked with organizations around the country, such as the Social Justice Training Institute, Camp OUTdoors, the National Conference for Community and Justice, and the U.S. military. 

Victor earned both a B.A. and M.A. from The University of Texas at El Paso with concentrations in organizational and corporate communication, and communication studies, and is certified in several areas including nonprofit leadership and management, mediation and conflict management, and holds a graduate certificate in gender and women’s studies. Victor furthered his education in interpersonal and intercultural communication while studying in the Ph.D. program of the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication at Arizona State University. 

Victor holds teaching positions at both Phoenix College and Arizona State University, where he teaches classes in small group communication, public speaking, and communication studies, and has conducted research on privacy management among transgender/cisgender relationships, and communication strategies of those engaged in LGBT nonromantic sexual relationships. He has also presented at conferences such as the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education (NCORE), and has been a featured writer for The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education magazine. Victor also provides consulting services to local and regional nonprofit organizations in the areas of media relations, cultural competency, and donor development.
